Welcome

Hi! I’m Alik, a Computer Science student at Georgia Tech. I am passionate about computer science, love playing sports, and hope to one day apply my experience to launch my own startup. Welcome to my personal website where you can find a quick rundown of my academics, extracurriculars, and life. This is my first website, which I fully designed and written, but you can find more cool things I’ve done below. If you have any questions or want to contact me, feel free to use the link at the bottom of the page to email me.

About Me

Hi, I'm Alik

I live in Atlanta, Georgia two miles down the road from my parents, Noune and Stanislav, and my dog, Rusty. I have an older brother David and sister Anush. I’m passionate about computer science, love playing basketball and soccer, and enjoy spending time with friends.

Junior at Georgia Tech

I attend the Georgia Institute of Technology where I'm pursueing a Master's in Computer Science with concentrations in Intelligence and Information Internetworks. In addition, I am looking to earn a minor in Economics. Go jackets!

Developing Bar Buzz

This past summer of 2021 I developed an app that uses phone signals in an area to determine how popular a venue is. I worked on end-to-end development of this app, building it from its conceptual stages to its final implementation. It's front-end is written in React Native and its back-end is programmed in Javascript. It is currently in its final stages of testing and I expect to launch it by the end of 2021. If you have any inquiries or would be interested in seeing a demo, please contact me with the links below!

Software Development Internship at OffTop

During the 2020-2021 winter break I intered as a software developer at OffTop, a music creation start up. In the month and a half I worked there, I created a "smart notepad" feature for the Android app using Java and XML in Android Studio. I added the ability to find and highlight all internal and end rhymes, suggest rhymes automatically when the user is typing, and save notes to a database. I worked independently on mainly front end development, but gained valuable experience in back end programming as well.

Internship at Spiralyze

Last summer I interned at Spiralyze LLC in midtown Atlanta. Spiralyze runs A/B tests on clients websites to increase their conversion rates and boosts their sales. I collaborated with another intern to pick through 1,500 global applicants and select the six best candidates, and to make a database of design changes that are statistically the most likely to increase a given website’s conversion rates. I learned a great deal about management, corporate structure, and computer science.

A Very Short Introduction: Systems Biology

I was a reviewer for A Very Short Introduction: Systems Biology, a book intended to introduce high school students to the field of Systems Biology. I worked with professor Voit Eberhard from Georgia Tech to edit the book and give comments about what to improve. This book was printed by the Oxford University Press and is on sale now.

President of Coding Club

In my sophomore year at Westminster, I became passionate about computer science; however, I could not find a club where I could be taught more about this subject. This prompted me to found the Westminster Coding Club, where I am currently president. We teach our members about computer science and help them with any computer science questions they have. We found that the best way to teach our members is to help them create games in Java in Processing. We are currently creating a website where we are putting all of these games and hosting that online.

Technician Assistant at Ultrasound Imaging and Therapeutics Research Lab

I worked as a technician assistant at a Georgia Tech lab where I helped technicians and post doctorate students prepare and conduct experiments. I worked in close proximity with researchers and was able to sit in on meetings, where I learned a great deal about how research is done and how projects are guided to fruition. In addition, I conducted a brief gel cavitation study and analyzed results. Unfortunately, I was not able to finish this study but I gained invaluable experience in the process.

Sports

I play defense for my high school’s Varsity Soccer team, which is one of the best in the nation with three back-to-back state championships. In addition, I play PRUMC basketball with my friends and run Cross Country for my school. Playing basketball or soccer is one of my favorite pastimes, whether it be with my team or a group of friends.
